"LONE RIDER" - THE TRACKS

Track 1, "The Magnificent Seven" is featured in the western film starring Yul Brynner that was updated and made into a great TV western in 1998 starring Michael Biehn as the legendary gunfighter Chris.

Track 2, "Yancy Derringer" is from the classic 1958 show starring Jock Mahoney. This period piece set in New Orleans, 3 years after the Civil War had ended, tells the story of an ex-Confederate officer turned adventurer and gambler who works as an undercover agent for the administrator of New Orleans aided by his Pawnee Indian friend Pahoo-Ka Ta Wa. This TV collector favorite features a great instrumental piece of music that has never before been recorded on LP, Cassette or CD. The series had 2 themes during its run, one was instrumental and the other vocal. Tommy Mara did record on 45 rpm the vocal version, but it is a lot different than this version that was used for all the opening titles and some of the end titles.

Track 3, "Have Gun Will Travel" is the theme for another classic 1957 western which starred Richard Boone as "Paladin" the black clad gunfighter for hire, with the silver chess knight on his holster. He lived in style at the Carlton Hotel in San Francisco and handed out business cards for his service. Johnny Western, who appeared in a number of the episodes had a hit with the theme music on Columbia Records when he recorded "The Ballad Of Paladin".

Tracks 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, are from the great Warner Brothers TV westerns of the 50s. Their TV western shows, "Bronco" with Ty Hardin, "Lawman" with John Russell and Peter Brown, "Cheyenne" with Clint Walker, "Maverick" with James Garner, Jack Kelly, Roger Moore and Robert Colbert, and Colt 45 with Wayde Preston remain as popular with western fans today as they did 50 years ago when they first aired on television and are eagerly sought after by TV collectors.

Track 9, "Johnny Ringo" is from the 4 Star western series which starred Don Durant, who wrote and recorded the theme, and Mark Goddard.

Track 10, "Tombstone Territory" is another of the classic 50s western series titled which starred Pat Conway. This catchy piece of music, also never recorded on LP, Cassette or CD is being presented here for the first time and is a bonus for the many TV collectors of the show.

Track 11, "Rawhide" is from 1959 which starred Eric Fleming and Clint Eastwood. The theme music was recorded for the show by Frankie Laine and he sang it during the opening titles and the credits each week. This theme was one of Frankie Laine's biggest hit records and is still being recorded and sung by artistes today.

Track 12, "Bonanza" starred Ben, Adam, Hoss & Joe as the Cartwright family. This long running series theme was written and recorded by David Rose as well as by dozens of other artistes and became a major hit for guitarist "Al Caiola". Johnny Cash also recorded a vocal version that became a hit for Columbia Records, although there never was a vocal theme heard on the show. Lorne Greene, the series star, also recorded the vocal version for RCA.

Track 13, "Ghost Riders In The Sky" is the classic western song. Written by Stan Jones this song has been recorded more than 50 times by many artists. Hit versions were by "The Ramrods and Vaughn Monroe" and many other artists like Johnny Cash, The Outlaws, The Ventures, The Shadows, Frankie Laine, Gene Autry, Lorne Greene etc have recorded it over the past 60 years.

Track 14, "The High Chaparral", from 1967, is another theme written and recorded by David Rose who did Bonanza and again this theme also became a hit for "Al Caiola". The series starred Leif Erickson, Cameron Mitchell, Henry Darrow, Linda Cristal, Mark Slade and Don Collier as members of the Canon ranch set 1880s Arizona.

Track 15, "Laramie", a 1959 western that starred the ever popular Robert Fuller along with John Smith. It was the story of the Sherman Brothers who ran a relay station for Overland Stagecoach line that ran into Laramie. Bobby Crawford, Jr. who played one of the Sherman Brothers on the series was the real life brother of Johnny Crawford who Played Mark McCain on the "Rifleman" series.

Track 16, "The Adventures of Champion" starred Jim Bannon, Barry Curtis and told the story of the adventures of Ricky North and his Wonder Horse, Champion.

Track 17, "The Theme from Shane" is from the 1953 classic western film of the same name that starred Alan Ladd.

Track 18, "High Noon" is from the 1952 Academy Award winning film starring Gary Cooper.

Track 19, "3:10 To Yuma" is from the 1957 western film of the same name starring Glenn Ford. This film has now been remade and stars Russell Crowe in the updated version.

Track 20, "Custer" is from the 1941 film "They Died With Their Boots On" which starred Errol Flynn as General George Armstrong Custer.

Track 21, "The Big Country" is from the 1958 western film of the same name which starred film greats Gregory Peck and Charlton Heston.

Track 22, "Red River Valley" is a classic western song from both Gene Autry and Roy Rogers western films has been recorded by many, many artistes.

Track 23, "Jezebel" is a Bonus Track dedicated to the memory of the great Frankie Laine, who sang so many of the great western TV and film themes during his career.
